This tool features a chisel end, which is effectively a narrow wedge that can be used for digging or placed between two objects and used as a wedge. When using it as a wedge, once inserted far enough, you can use the tool's length to your advantage and lever heavy items out of the way.
The point end effectively forms a spear that can be driven into the ground, breaking it up for excavating other hand tools such as forks and spades. These tools are popular with fencing contractors, builders, and demolition workers.
