- Mami Wata is known for Her beauty. But She is as seductive as She is dangerous. Those who pay tribute to Her know her as a "Capitalist Deity" because She can bring good (or bad) fortune in the form of money. This relationship between currency and water makes sense. Her persona developed between the 15th and 20th centuries, as Africa became more present in Global Trade. The fact that the name Mami Wata is in "Pidgen English", the language used to facilitate this Trade, shows the influence on foreign cultures on the Spirit's image and identity.
- Because of these outside influences, Mami Wata takes on many forms. Throughout the exhibit, statues and paintings of the Spirit incorporate Christian Crosses and Hindu Gods. According to guest curator John Drewal, the Spiritual Crossover is no problem with many Africans. "They see it as "multiple Insurance Policies," he says. Cooling and comfortable pillow cover

This is a very nice pillow cover. It’s very well made, has a zipper and the fabric is what I consider as plush. It’s very pretty but I use it under the pillow case. The best feature to me is that it keeps my head cool. I sleep on a latex pillow and they are usually too warm for me.

Wonderful pillow and products!

I've been using the Snuggle-Pedic pillow for a couple of weeks now, and it is fantastic. It's soft, but the foam is firm and full. It is clearly extremely well made. Everything from Snuggle-Pedic appears to be top quality, right down to the extra little instructional inserts they include with their products. I also purchased the Zipper Removable Cover to make laundering easier. It's just as well made as the pillow. In fact, it's exactly the same as the cover on the pillow except removable due to the zipper. I'm also using the Snuggle-Pedic Organic Cotton Pillow Case, and it too is extremely well made, soft and comfortable.
I was a little hesitant about the pillow case when I saw the picture because it almost looked ... too soft for me, sort of like a fleece blanket. Maybe that was just the way I saw the picture, but it's not actually like fleece. It's very soft and comfortable and does stretch a little as opposed to a regular pillow case, as they say in the description, but in a good way and appears very durable. I was concerned that it would stretch out and twist around the pillow, but it doesn't do that at all. It has stayed perfectly fitted to the pillow. From what I've experienced, everything in the descriptions of the Snuggle-Pedic products is true, and all three pieces work perfectly for me. This is the most I've spent on an individual pillow, but I couldn't be more pleased, and I'm planning to replace all my pillows.
