“My raison d’être often finds me capturing the wild and raw sides of nature, where just surviving the night is a landmark event. The tallest animal to walk the planet today is an old bull giraffe. Often standing 19 feet tall and weighing in at over 3,000 pounds, these colossal giants have few enemies - unless they reside in one of the very few areas in Africa where lions specialize in giraffe hunting. Spectacularly powerful, a giraffe can deliver a kick that will kill a lion outright. The lion’s undertaking of such a formidable and large prey is one of great risk requiring finely honed skills, a great degree of patience and bit of luck.
I first came across this phenomenon over a decade ago in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. I couldn’t believe that an animal 1/6 the size of another could develop a consistent strategy to hunt and kill a giraffe. Seeing this display of skill and fortitude I was absolutely captivated and knew I had to find a way to study and subsequently paint this truly awe inspiring story. I resolved to find a place where I could witness first hand this rare and little observed behavior. Through my searches I found my way to the Bubye Valley Conservancy, an area of almost a million acres that only 30 years ago was one of the largest cattle ranches in Africa.
The Bubye Valley Conservancy, through their exceptional wildlife management and planning strategies have returned the area to its former wild glory and now provides an intact ecosystem, home to the most stable lion populations in all of Africa. Several of the resident prides have begun to specialize in hunting giraffes. On my journey I was fortunate to locate a group of exceptionally large males and set up to observe their activities on their freshly taken giraffe over the course of several days. To date, this scene is one of the most impressive in field experiences of my life, illustrating both rawness and purity and solidifying that, “It’s the Nature of the Beasts.” - John Banovich

Works just as intended

My recently adopted rescue kitty loves this self-warming mat. We live in the south, and sometimes the temps drop a bit. I placed her mat out onto some blankets and she was immediately receptive to it. I sat and gave her plenty of cuddles while she laid down on the pad, and I could feel the toasty warmth beneath her body on the fabric.
The size of the mat you see in my photos is the 16”x20” size. My kitten is 6 months old and she is a gangly, lanky girl. She fits on the mat when curled up- but she likes to sprawl as well. This size is great for inside her travel carrier, but I will more than likely also order a larger size for home use so that I can keep the smaller one in her travel carrier. I ordered the brown and I like the rich, chocolatey color. The top is a very fine micro velvet that is very soft. The underside is polyester that has some small rubber dots for traction. It is thin and very pliable. The mat is great quality and has held up with my kitty attacking it during playtime as well.
Whether for home or for travel uses- it’s a big hit with my kitty! Works just as described and makes a wonderful addition for these colder months.

Great Value Toy

This toy has been one of my dog’s absolute favorites. He gets excited every time he sees it and will carry it around the house, toss it in the air, and keep himself entertained for a long time. The shape and texture seem perfect for him, and it quickly became one of his go-to toys over everything else in his basket.
What I really like is that it holds up reasonably well for the price. It’s definitely not indestructible, and after a lot of play, it will sometimes start to rip—usually around the feet first since that’s where my dog tends to grab and chew the most. But honestly, considering how affordable it is, I don’t mind replacing it when needed. It’s inexpensive enough that rebuying feels worth it because he genuinely loves it that much.
I’d rather keep buying a toy he is obsessed with than spend more on something that just sits untouched. It’s fun, cute, and keeps him happy, which is what matters most. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for dogs who love plush toys and playful chewing.

Best affordable squeaker toy

my dog is obsessed with this toy, this has became his new comfort toy and after having this for about four months the legs are falling off but it’s very durable. The squeaker also moved from the head of the chicken to the body of the chicken but that’s after it was played with every single day. I love that it has two squeakers and it’s the perfect toy for my dog.
