From the beginning and throughout the history of our salvation, this prince of the incorporeal powers, has been for humankind the Angel of mercy and of divine benevolence. A being of fire, free from all alteration and permanently consecrated to the contemplation of the divine glory, the Archangel Gabriel was designated by the Lord a a ministering spirit, sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation (Heb. 1:14).

According to saint Proclus of Constantinople, his name means "God and man" and signifies that he is charged to announce all the mysteries which have contributed to the preparation for the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. The goal and summit of his mission as therefore the "Rejoice!" which he announced to the Mother of God and which has become the form of praise and thanksgiving of all those who, thanks to him, inherit salvation and try to imitate on earth the angelic way of life.

Gabriel is often referred to as the leader of the heavenly hosts; he is associated with numerous happenings in Holy Scripture, particularly the Annunciation where he brings the message to the Theotokos that she would bear is also recognized as the angel who announced the birth of the Theotokos to her parents Joachim and Anna and who came to Joseph the Betrothed in a dream, telling him that Mary's pregnancy was indeed miraculous and that he should protect and care for her. He also appeared to the shepherds near Bethlehem, telling them of the Birth of Christ.

A Timely and Wise Guide to Disagreeing with Grace And Persuading in Love
Format: Kindle
Gavin Ortlund’s The Art of Disagreeing is a masterclass in thoughtful, Christlike engagement with differing viewpoints. In an age of polarization, Ortlund offers a much-needed framework for navigating disagreements with wisdom, humility, and love. What sets this book apart is its deeply biblical foundation, combined with practical insights that apply to real-life conversations. Ortlund challenges readers to prioritize truth without sacrificing kindness, demonstrating how disagreement, when handled well, can actually strengthen relationships and sharpen understanding. His writing is clear, accessible, and refreshingly gracious, making this book a valuable resource for anyone seeking to communicate more effectively, whether in theological debates or everyday discussions. Highly recommended for those who desire to stand firm in their convictions while reflecting the gentleness and respect of Christ. A five-star read that will leave a lasting impact!

Timely, helpful, and easy to read
Format: Kindle
It's not often that I read an entire book in one sitting, but Dr Ortlund managed to produce a work that got me to do exactly that. He touches on the heart of the issue with the vitriol with which Christians often treat each other. As a Roman Catholic that disagrees with the author on many important issues, I found this work to be a breath of fresh air. Christians of all types should take to heart the message of this book and apply its lessons in their daily lives, but especially when evangelizing. For years, I've recommended three different books when it comes to the topic of communication, and after reading this one, I will be adding it as the fourth to that list. Given how easy it is to read, this is a fantastic book to start with.
