Which chemical elements are represented?

Mendeleev's periodic table currently contains 118 elements, but not all of them can be enclosed in a living room acrylic resin: elements that are gaseous at room temperature (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, fluorine, chlorine, noble gases like helium or neon) cannot be presented in solid form, and radioactive elements (uranium, plutonium, radium, francium...) are excluded for obvious safety reasons.

The remaining 83 stable solid elements cover the vast majority of accessible and familiar elements: all common metals (iron, copper, silver, gold, platinum, mercury, lead, zinc, tin, aluminum...), precious metals and rare earths (palladium, iridium, neodymium, cerium...), metalloids (silicon, germanium, antimony, tellurium), and non-metallic solids (graphite carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, selenium, iodine). Each cell of the table contains a visible sample of the corresponding element — not an image, not a representation, but the element itself.

THE PERIODIC TABLE SPIRIT: CHEMISTRY AS A WORK OF ART
For decades, the periodic table remained a poster hung on classroom walls — a functional educational tool but with little evocative power beyond school. This object radically changes the perspective: it transforms the very matter of chemistry into a tangible, beautiful, intriguing decorative object that invites conversation. When a visitor approaches, their gaze is immediately drawn to the small real samples that sparkle in the resin — glowing copper fragments, the silvery brilliance of zinc, the vibrant yellow of sulfur, the metallic grey of graphite carbon. It's an invitation to curiosity, a conversation starter about the origins of matter, Mendeleev's table, the history of chemistry. For science students, it's also a powerful mnemonic tool: physically seeing an element helps to memorize it much better than a simple box in a book. An object that proves that science and beauty are not opposed, but mutually reinforce each other.

Categories of elements represented

Common metalsIron, copper, silver, gold, platinum, mercury, lead, zinc, aluminum, nickel
Precious metalsGold, platinum, palladium, iridium, rhodium, ruthenium, osmium
Rare earthsNeodymium, cerium, lanthanum, dysprosium, samarium, europium, gadolinium
MetalloidsSilicon, germanium, antimony, tellurium, boron, arsenic
Non-metallic solidsGraphite carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, selenium, iodine
Alkali/Alkaline Earth MetalsLithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, barium (in sealed ampoules for the most reactive)

Highlighting tip: the pack with a lighted base (USB or wireless) spectacularly enhances the elements by backlighting them from below. The visual effect is particularly striking in a dark room or with subdued lighting: each sample seems to float in the resin, individually illuminated. Ideal for a studio ambiance desk, a cozy library, or a collection display case in a living room. The wireless pack is particularly practical for mobile presentations (courses, lectures, travel) as it does not require a USB cable nearby. For a premium gift, the wireless pack offers the best usage flexibility.

Maintenance: no special maintenance required. The table is designed for long-term display. Occasionally wipe the surface of the acrylic resin with a soft, dry cloth or slightly damp cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemicals (alcohol, solvents) that could dull the resin. For the wooden base, a dry cloth is sufficient; wood wax can be applied occasionally to preserve the wood's appearance. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure which could eventually yellow the resin.

Elements excluded for safety reasons: gaseous elements (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, noble gases like helium, neon, argon) and radioactive elements (uranium, plutonium, radium, francium, technetium...) are not included. The 83 elements represented are all stable and safe solids to handle. For the most reactive elements (alkali metals like sodium or potassium), specific packaging in a sealed ampoule within the resin ensures their long-term stability.

The ultimate scientific decorative object

The decorative periodic table is an original and memorable gift that radically deviates from classic presents. It combines aesthetic elegance (crystalline resin, wooden base, sparkling elements), educational dimension (concrete support for learning chemistry), and unique character (few people own one, guaranteed "wow" effect on visitors). Ideal for a chemistry or engineering student (back-to-school gift, graduation gift), science teacher (end-of-year thank you gift), Father's Day or Mother's Day for a scientific parent, major birthday, Christmas, or professional promotion gift for an engineer, doctor, or researcher. Particularly suitable for recipients who are pop science enthusiasts, collectors of scientific objects, or simply lovers of beautiful, intelligent objects. The pack with a backlit base maximizes the visual impact and perceived value of the gift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the elements really real?
Yes — these are not printed representations. Each cell in the table contains an authentic sample of the corresponding chemical element, embedded in transparent acrylic resin. You can observe the actual color, texture, luster, and physical form of each element. This is one of the few ways to have a sample of 83 different elements at home, in a secure and durable object.
Why only 83 elements and not 118?
The periodic table has 118 elements, but 35 of them cannot be included for technical and safety reasons: (1) gaseous elements at room temperature (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, fluorine, chlorine, noble gases) cannot be presented in observable solid form; (2) radioactive elements (uranium, plutonium, radium, technetium, francium, and all transuranic elements) are excluded for obvious safety reasons. The 83 included elements represent the vast majority of accessible and familiar elements.
What is the difference between the 3 packs?
All 3 packs include the same periodic table in acrylic resin with 83 real elements. The only difference is the base: Solo = table only, no base. USB Light Base = table + wooden base with backlighting powered via USB cable (to be plugged into a computer, charger, or external battery). Wireless Light Base = table + wooden base with autonomous wireless backlighting, ideal for mobility or presentations without cable constraints.
Is it a good educational tool?
Absolutely — this is one of its main advantages. Observing real elements rather than an abstract representation makes learning chemistry infinitely more concrete and memorable. Students can physically visualize the difference between a transition metal (shiny, metallic) and a metalloid (dull, granular), between an alkali metal (soft, gray) and a noble metal (golden yellow for gold). This is particularly useful for chemistry students, high school students, or anyone preparing for scientific competitions.
Are the elements dangerous to handle?
No, there's no risk: the 83 included elements are all stable and harmless solids. They are also embedded in acrylic resin, which completely isolates them from the environment — you cannot touch them directly. The most reactive elements (sodium, potassium) are packaged in sealed ampoules within the resin to prevent any contact with air or moisture. The periodic table is safe for all ages, including in the presence of children.
Does the periodic table make a good gift?
It's an original and memorable gift that stands out from the ordinary. Ideal for a chemistry or engineering student, a science teacher, Father's/Mother's Day for a scientist parent, a major birthday, Christmas, or a professional promotion gift. The pack with a backlit base maximizes visual impact and perceived value. A guaranteed "wow" effect on visitors due to its unique character.

Heals skin
It definitely dries out your skin quickly but I do recommend moisture so the skin won’t crack or you get open cuts as your dermatitis is healing. I have dermatitis really bad where my skin drys and hurts when I have a cut, So far it’s working as intended.
