Hanns Eisler composed more than five hundred songs, and his very first extant compositions include songs with piano accompaniment. On the fourth and last volume of their selections from Eisler's songs, Holger Falk and Steffen Schleiermacher focus on his early works and bring to light an absolutely astonishing discovery: the young Hanns was an autodidact who had an incredible feel for the song part, and his artistic aspirations are also evident in the piano part. Eisler transcends by far the mere imitation of models. Here we encounter free-tonal compositions as well as music of revue character, expressive passages as well as laconic ones. His choice of texts is likewise very broad. While Brecht became the focus in Eisler's later work, here he concentrates on poems by Eichendorff and Buchner and by Trakl and Morgenstern. The songs set to Far Eastern poetry, in translations by Hans Bethge and Klabund, are very much in keeping with their times. Eisler even set newspaper advertisements to music! Eisler composed his very first songs while as yet reflecting on World War I, most of which he spent in military hospitals. The texts and the mood are correspondingly gloomy, for example, in "Tod" or "Der mude Soldat." By contrast, the Songs op. 2 borrow from the style of the Viennese school led by Arnold Schoenberg, with whom Eisler studied counterpoint beginning in 1919. Broad intervals and extreme registers require the singer to give his all- something very typical of vocal works from Schoenberg's immediate circle. Holger Folk masters such difficulties with bravura and finds just the right tone for this challenging music. Steffen Schleiermacher lends the difficult, sometimes harmonically unwieldy compositional texture a transparency that conveys the character of each and every song in the most advantageous light. The magnificent conclusion of an ambitious project!

ThermoMaven Does All the Work and Eliminates All the Temp Worries
I made this purchase as a cost-effective way to monitor the meat temperature while cooking without any wires. I have used this in my smoker grill, traditional gas grill, charcoal grill, oven and rotisserie air fryer. I tested the reading for accuracy with other temp measuring devices and find that it has been spot on in every method. It is so easy to use that you push it into the meat to the designated line and it reads the ambient, (surrounding), temp as well as the current meat temp. The display is easy to read and has a backlight when cooking outdoors in dim lighting. It is magnetic so it keeps the controller in place. When finished easily clean the probe with dish detergent and a wipe. I will be purchasing the 4-probe version since I do a lot of smoker grill cooks so I can measure more than one zone or different foods at the same time.

Works great! For basic temperature tracking it's a useful tool.
After years of relying on a combination of my pellet grill's temperature probe and my trusty instant read thermometer, I decided to get into the 21st century and invest in a wireless probe. Not wanting to spend a bunch of money, I saw that this was on sale and I figured that if it didn't work I wouldn't be out too much money.
As I write this, I'm using it. It arrived last night and I went through the setup process. It was SO easy to set up and the app is nice and simple to use. I started my pork butt cook at 7am this morning and the probe has worked flawlessly! I compared the temperature readings to my instant read and they're within a degree of each other, so I know that what it's registering is accurate.
To be honest, this isn't a huge game-changer for me as I've been smoking meat for years and have a process down. But I do like the fact that I can monitor my temperature remotely. I think where it will be the most impactful is in overnight cooks. I won't have to go out to my smoker I'm the middle of the night to check my temps. I can do that from the comfort of my bed!
Though I've only used it once so far, I'm very satisfied with it. It seems to be rugged and made for the long haul. I'm looking forward to future cooks!
Update: I've now done several cooks with the thermometer. My experience with it has been mostly positive. For tracking internal temperature, this probe is very accurate and right in line with my instant read thermometer. My only nit is that the ambient temperature sensor is a little finicky. It is slow to update, and I usually must wait 20-30 minutes for it to report the ambient temperature correctly. Not only that, you have to make sure that the probe depth line is right at the surface of the meat. I found that the margin for error is really slim with this. But other than that, it works great, and the app has made it so easy to track the cooking rate. My Thanksgiving turkey was spot-on this year and the probe helped immensely!

Best Tool I've Purchased In A Long Time!
Best tool I've purchased in a long time! This magnetic wireless meat thermometer is the perfect size for brisket, pork shoulders, roasts, and even steaks. Connected well with my iPhone, and looks like I have a professional thermometer. Slim and easy to use, the LED screen is easy to read and keeps me informed of my temps with audible beeps. The probe is easy to clean, and even after a long cook, it doesn't require much scrubbing. Durable and well worth the money.

Good Thermometer with a Great App
The user experience with this wireless thermometer is much different than with the Chef IQ ones. I had a Chef IQ for 2 years until my husband put it through the garbage disposal. The software sucked, but everything that did wrong, the Thermomaven does right. I don't even have to open the app bc as soon as I turn it the thermometer on, the temp pops up on my iphone as well as on the Thermomaven base - freeing up my phone. The screen is easy to read and is backlit.
My only complaint is that the probe is too big. You just can't use this thing with burgers or thin chicken breasts. I also got the Thermomaven instant read thermometer which will work in those cases, and it's great as well and thin enough for anything. These people really make great products. I'm impressed.

Longer distance and still monitor
Nice thermometer works lon wifi and Bluetooth so you can go farther away from grill and monitor temperature, sometimes on the app it doesn't show the correct temperature you must refresh it. So far so good only 2 cooks with it
