NEW! Studio FX Piano – The Well-Prepared Piano
Tradition meets innovation: Painstakingly captured over the course of more than four months in the pristine, controlled environment of Stage B at Vienna Synchron Stage, this unique collection redefines what a piano can be – and sound like. Expanding significantly on the “prepared piano” concept popularized by avant-garde composer John Cage in the 1940s, The Vienna team transformed their Yamaha CFX into a groundbreaking instrument of sonic exploration. By manipulating its strings with objects such as screws, bolts, rubber, felt wedges, chains, and paper, or utilizing an EBow for infinite sustain, it now produces a myriad of adventurous tones far removed from its classical origins. The controlled ambience allows you to shape your custom FX sounds any way you want, while the optional convolution reverb derived from Vienna MIR Pro 3D adds space and even more creative versatility. A wide array of dedicated FX patches and mixer presets takes this sonic adventure to entirely new dimensions, inviting you to push the boundaries of sound design.

Prepper’s Delight
When it comes to high-performance music, preparation is key – and in this collection, that concept takes on a whole new, literal meaning. Synchron Stage Vienna’s very own piano tuner and specialist Max Kubizek conducted extensive research to unlock the unique sound possibilities he and Synchron Stage chief conductor Gottfried Rabl envisioned for this exceptional product, which is vastly more expansive and versatile than the previously released prepared piano in Vienna’s Studio Special Keyboards collection. The results give you incredible freedom for experimentation.

During the recording sessions, no boundaries were set: the bass strings were slapped by hand or plucked with a guitar pick, the piano body was struck with a mallet, metal screws and bolts created sharp metallic overtones, while rubber and felt dampened the vibrating strings to produce muted, drum-like beats. These unconventional techniques and non-traditional approaches generated complex and unexpected sound layers, ranging from mystical drones to sharp, percussive hits that are as inspiring as they are unique.

Beyond Recognition
Behind every keystroke lies a realm of sonic exploration – from the weird and eerie to the innovative and avant-garde. Is it a piano or a percussion instrument? A key instrument or some sort of alien noise generator? Sometimes, it’s hard to tell – and that’s precisely the appeal of this unique instrument. The possibilities are as vast as the materials used to manipulate and transform its sound.

Expanding on the classic “Cage Template,” special FX mixer presets enable instant sound shaping, empowering you to break free from convention. Perfect for film scores, contemporary compositions, and experimental music, the FX piano’s cross-genre versatility is unmistakable. Custom articulations broaden its expressive range, making it indispensable for those seeking the unconventional and unpredictable.

Pure Experimentation
The relatively dry Stage B is perfect for capturing prepared and FX piano sounds that feel as direct and pure as if you were sitting right in front of the instrument while the sound-altering materials are applied. With both algorithmic and convolution reverb options, this prepared piano adapts seamlessly to any musical setting and can be placed in any acoustic environment you desire – ranging from tight, intimate studio spaces to richly reverberant surroundings. Whether you’re crafting cinematic soundscapes or experimental avant-garde compositions, this instrument equips you to explore world of previously unheard piano tones.

Preparations includes a plethora of items such as screws, felt wedges, erasers, chains, aluminum foil, sheet metal, glass plate, leather, brushes, various mallets, EBow, fishing line, different picks for strumming, fingernails, and even a bicycle inner tube! Additionally, the Standard Library and Full Library of Studio FX Piano both include the same articulations. The difference lies in the number of provided microphone positions.

BETTER THAN A CUP HOLDER
I had a cup-holder mount and it was always falling apart. No matter how it was turned, to unfasten my phone I had to move the spring part of the holder in the same direction that removes the entire clip from the stem of the mount. Of course, I eventually lost the clip. What a bad idea. And, in a 4-Runner, on my cupholder, MAPS sometines got lost and I would have to hold my phone up to the windshield for a minute to get back MAPS back on track. Also not a good Idea. We're not supposed to be handeling a phone and driving so holding my phone up to the windshield is kinda like flagging down a cop. (The 4-Runner has hand-free phone service, as well as some kind of circuitious navigation but it's always lost.) . So, for about $9 on sale, I though I would try one of these LISEN mounts. It works great ! Really. Easy to attach securely but scratchlessly it to my center AC/heat vent and It is infantly moveable. Swing the arm 360 degrees, in and out, phone up or saideways, and tilt the phone to me or the Boss. If I get bored, I can relocate it anywhere along the center vents, or even over to my side vent if I have nothing better to do.. It is sturdy, quiet, easy to clamp in my S21, and release is simplye by pushing the button on the back. Sooo much better that my previous mount, for a third of the price. It might be the best $9 you ever spent. And still worthwhile,if you have to shell out the $18. (But I always try to avoid paying full price for anything). Enjoy !

Usable but average, with only basic build quality and stability.
This in-car phone mount is fairly average overall. It’s easy to install and works for basic navigation needs, but the build quality isn’t particularly impressive. The materials feel a bit ordinary, and stability can be an issue on rough roads, with some looseness over time. It’s usable, but not outstanding.

Best wax ever - not kidding!
We have 2 classic cars we restored and put in shows, along with our regular daily drivers. Some of the cars are darker colors, like grey, blue, or black, and the others are white and a light seafoam green. The problems I've had with other waxes, including other higher end products was streaking, and not being able to remove the swirls. Not so with Black light. This is hands down the best wax I have ever used. The application is simple, and I've done it in shade as well as sun, both with excellent results. Use a microfiber applicator to apply, thin, not thick coats in a circular motion. Then wait - let it set for 15 minutes. Final step - use a clean microfiber cloth to remove. It removes so easy, and leaves no swirl or haze like other waxes. The depth of shine is also noticeable. It makes the paint smooth with a deep shine, no matter the color or if its metallic or not. It just looks great. Bonus - it even smells great! I was so impressed I ordered a few more of their products and we'll be testing those shortly. For years I've bought and tried almost everything at stores and car shows and nothing impressed me. Black Light impresses me so much I'll be using it exclusively from now on. It's really that good.

Must buy
Awesome, Awesome Product!!! The shine is amazing. I was going to apply it with a hand buffer, but instead attempted to do it by hand. The manual labor was amazing. I can’t wait to drop the orbital buffer on it next. A must but for Black or dark paint colors!
