Mookaite is named after the Mookaite region in Australia where it is found. While it is categorized as a Jasper, interestingly enough this material is technically a sedementary radiolarite. Radiolarians are microfossils with a siliceous shell that are part of the zooplankton and live in the first 200 meters of the water column. *please treat these and most other opaque stones carefully; meaning don't take them bathing, cleaning or swimming*
