Signed Chromed Resin Sculpture on Marble Base by Dan Lane.

Through constant research and experimentation, Dan Lane developed the concept behind Of This Earth over the course of years, refining the idea to create this striking collection of sculptures. Exploring the duality of humanity and depicting the circularity of nature, ‘Of This Earth’ shows a skull absorbed by crystals and minerals of the earth, whilst flowers bloom, and butterflies – a symbol of rebirth – thrive. As the skull represents humanity, the sculpture explores how we are all equal in the eyes of nature.

Fascinated by the cycle of life, Lane shows how as one living being dies and returns to the earth, others can flourish while contemplating how everything we know derives from stardust, be it plants, crystals or humans.

Master of blending the dark and the light, the artist pairs his signature skulls with elegant butterflies and flowers, presented – for the first time – in a chrome lustre. Providing an ethereal finish, this enhances the sense of romance and realism Lane’s work is known for.

“To me, Of This Earth represents the cycle of life and highlights the fact that regardless of what ethnicity we are, what gender we are, or who we vote for, we are all made of the same stuff.” – Dan Lane

This artwork is a chromed resin sculpture on a marble base. The marble base each ‘Of This Earth’ sculpture has been specially selected by the artist to complement the tones and colours in the sculptures. Lane has presented each sculpture in a clear case, introducing a museum-like feel.

A Challenge For All Liberals
Format: Paperback
I thought the book was well-written, impeccably sourced, wide-ranging, and with a thesis that can't help but make you think. Well worth your time.

The history is unpleasant and therefore worth knowing.
It's a wonderfully enlightening history of how European explorers visited, settled in, conquered, and exploited other continents with unparalleled cruelty in the name of power, greed, and their "loving" religion that brought them misery, exploitation and, all too often, abject slavery.

Wonderful History Lessons
I ordered this book to use for a college paper I was writing and found it fascinating. I enjoyed the content and learned much from it. The history is written in a manner that for those people that either don't read much or don't like to read (yes, there are a few people out there), it will draw you in and make you question the history lessons we suffered through in high school.
