Annabelle was thinking about using banana fibre to make some earrings from the fibre.
She put some aside and took it home, at home she stripped it into small strings, she then washed it with water and hung it up to dry. From the small fibres she then made some string and used the fibres to make some earrings.
Banana is called Merah in Anindilyakwa language. It is also the name for blood.
The word Merah is also the word for red in Bahasa Indonesian. Annabelle has said that the Macassan people bought banana plant, tamarind trees and bamboo to the Eylandt.
