This is another fishing story, inspired in part by a fly-fishing kit I received for Christmas. Over the winter, my friend Ed taught me the fine art of tying my flies. This got me dreaming of catching a steelhead on my hand-tied fly.

I set out on a fishing trip with Ed to fulfill this dream and gather inspiration for a new painting. The painting and edition of prints were to be framed and matted in such a way as to display a mounted fly tied by me.

As luck would have it, I didn’t catch a steelhead. Ed did, albeit not on a fly, but there was my inspiration anyway! 

When the painting was completed, Ed and I stopped at the Stamp River Angler in Port Alberni to discuss with Ken, the owner, a suitable fly pattern to complement the artwork. A unanimous choice was Morning Glory. Hence, the title of a new painting and edition of prints.
