'Apricot, Wine Gums & Fruit Syrup'

Origin: Ethiopia
Roast Type: Filter
Region: Guji
Process: Anoxic Natural
Variety: Heirloom
Altitude: 2000m
Producer: Kercha Station
Weight: 250g
Roasted on: 05/01/26

Fortitude started out in Edinburgh in 2014 with Helen and Matt at the helm. What began as a small specialty café quickly grew into a full-on roastery by 2016, allowing them to take full control over flavour and quality. For their return to our Coffee Club, we went for an Ethiopian anoxic natural. Right from the first sip, there’s a vibrant wine gum note we love and it’s a complex without feeling crowded. Really creative and definitely not your typical Ethiopian natural!

ABOUT THE COFFEE

This lot comes from the Kercha processing station in Ethiopia’s Guji region. Guji, named after a tribe of the Oromo people, lies in the country’s south and is known for its rich, fruit-forward coffees.

This lot underwent an extended anoxic fermentation: ripe cherries are placed in stainless steel tanks filled with water and sealed to create an oxygen-free environment. The temperature inside the tanks is carefully monitored throughout, and after 4–5 days the cherries are removed and laid out to dry on raised beds for up to 18 days. The station refers to this method as the “Wine Process,” a technique they adopted from the winemaking world.

This is a coffee from Coffee Club 2026 January - Scotland Edition

Easy reading but with a lot of truth
No guilt or condemnation but very motivating. It makes me realize that we all have gifts that God has given us and that we can all do something important for Him. That just because we aren’t mega church pastors doesn’t mean there is not something for us to do for Him

Good book
Format: Paperback
Still working through it but I have no complaints. I have a shelf of no starch books and have not been disappointed by any. Some, of course, are better than others but this is a good book.
