- Toyota Starlet: Fits only the 2020+ Starlet (WB body, Baleno-based, K15B engine). Does NOT fit the classic 1978-1999 Toyota Starlet (EP71 / EP81 / EP82 / EP91) with 4K, 2E, 1E or 4E-series engines - those are entirely different vehicles with incompatible clutch specifications.
- Suzuki Baleno: Fits only the current 2022+ Baleno (WB body, K15B engine). Does NOT fit the 2016-2021 Baleno with K14B engine, and does NOT fit the original 1995-2002 Suzuki Baleno / Cultus Crescent.

- This is a 2-piece kit - the release/throwout bearing is NOT included. Order a matching release bearing separately to complete the job.
- Suitable for solid flywheel applications only. If your vehicle is fitted with a dual-mass flywheel (DMF), this kit is NOT the correct part.
- Inspect the flywheel face for heat cracking, bluing, glazing, warping or uneven wear. Have the flywheel resurfaced by a machine shop, or replace it, before fitting the new clutch.
- Inspect and replace the pilot/spigot bearing at the same time if your vehicle is fitted with one.
- Use a dedicated clutch alignment tool during installation. Misalignment damages the disc splines and prevents clean engagement.
- Bleed the hydraulic clutch system after installation if the slave cylinder or clutch line was disturbed.
- Avoid oil or grease contamination of the friction surfaces. Repair any rear main oil seal leak before assembly.
- Torque the pressure plate bolts to the vehicle manufacturer's specification in a cross-pattern sequence.
Installation / Use / Maintenance Tips
- Compare the new clutch disc and pressure plate to the removed items before fitting - confirm disc diameter, spline count, hub thickness and pressure plate bolt pattern all match.
- Degrease the flywheel face and pressure plate contact surface thoroughly before assembly - do not touch the friction face of the new disc with bare hands.
- Fit the clutch disc with the marked "flywheel side" or raised hub facing the correct direction - incorrect orientation prevents the gearbox from mating fully.
- Tighten pressure plate bolts gradually in a cross pattern to avoid distorting the cover. Follow manufacturer torque specification.
- Pack a small amount of high-temperature grease on the input shaft splines and release bearing pivot point - avoid over-greasing which can contaminate the disc.
- Recheck bolt torque and hydraulic bleed after the first short drive; check clutch pedal travel and biting point.
Common Questions
Will this clutch kit fit my 2020+ Toyota Starlet?
Yes - the current Toyota Starlet (WB body, 2020+) is a Suzuki Baleno rebadge with the K15B 1.5 L petrol engine, and this clutch kit covers that application. Do NOT use this kit for the classic 1990s Toyota Starlet (EP-series) - those are completely different vehicles.
Why does a Toyota part fit Suzuki vehicles?
Since 2018, Toyota South Africa Motors has sold several rebadged Maruti-Suzuki models under a manufacturing partnership. The Rumion, Starlet, Starlet Cross and Urban Cruiser are built in India by Maruti-Suzuki and share all mechanical components with their Suzuki equivalents (Ertiga, Baleno, Fronx, Vitara Brezza). The same clutch kit fits both brands because it's the same vehicle under the skin.

Is the release bearing included?
No. This is a 2-piece kit containing only the clutch disc and pressure plate. Order a matching release bearing separately to complete the job.
Does this fit a dual-mass flywheel (DMF)?
No. This kit is for solid (single-mass) flywheel applications only. The Suzuki K15B engine in these models uses a solid flywheel from the factory, but always confirm before ordering.
What does "push-type" mean?
Push-type refers to the release mechanism - the release bearing pushes on the pressure plate diaphragm fingers to disengage the clutch. The opposite is pull-type, where the bearing pulls outward. This kit is designed for push-type operation and will not work in pull-type applications.
How do I confirm my vehicle has a K15B engine?
The engine code is stamped on the cylinder block - typically on the front or side of the engine near the gearbox mating surface. Your VIN plate, vehicle registration document (NaTIS) or service book may also list the engine code. Contact us with your VIN if you need verification.
