Ambre Toscana Da Uve Leggermente Appassite Rosso 2023 laat zien hoe verleidelijk moderne appassimento uit Toscane kan zijn, met een diepe kleur, rijp fruit en een fluwelige structuur. De Ambre-lijn is ontwikkeld om wijnen te maken die direct plezier geven, maar wel duidelijk hun herkomst tonen. In deze rode Ambre proef je precies dat: Toscaanse warmte, geconcentreerd door lichte droging van de druiven, maar met genoeg frisheid om het glas graag nog een keer bij te schenken.

Wijngaarden en regio

De druiven voor deze Toscaanse rode wijn komen uit verschillende geselecteerde wijngaarden binnen IGT Toscana. De stokken staan op kleiachtige bodems met een middelmatig kalkgehalte, wat zorgt voor kracht, sappigheid en een goede natuurlijke zuurgraad. Het warme klimaat van Toscane geeft de druiven alle tijd om volledig te rijpen, terwijl de kalk in de bodem voor spanning in de afdronk zorgt. Voor deze cuvée worden uit meerdere percelen alleen de beste trossen geselecteerd, zodat de stijl van Ambre Rosso ieder jaar hetzelfde volle, harmonieuze karakter behoudt.

Vinificatie en rijping

Wanneer de druiven ongeveer 80% van hun rijpheid hebben bereikt, worden ze met de hand geoogst en in kratten gelegd. In deze kratten start het droogproces bij ongeveer 16 °C, dat 2 tot 3 weken duurt, totdat de druiven rond 30% van hun gewicht hebben verloren. Door deze lichte appassimento worden suikers, zuren en aroma’s geconcentreerd zonder dat de druiven uitdrogen of beschadigd raken. Na het ontstelen volgt een koude schilmaceratie bij 0 tot 4 °C gedurende 4 tot 6 dagen, om extra kleur en fruitaroma’s uit de schillen te halen voordat de gisting begint. De alcoholische vergisting verloopt daarna bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur van rond 24 °C en duurt 10 tot 14 dagen, zodat het rijpe fruit en de zachte tannines mooi naar voren komen. Vervolgens rust de wijn verder op tank om de verschillende componenten te laten versmelten; het resultaat is een volle maar evenwichtige stijl met een alcoholpercentage rond 14% en een subtiel zoete indruk dankzij het appassimento-proces.

Druivensamenstelling

Sangiovese – geselecteerde wijngaarden in Toscane
Sangiovese vormt de ruggengraat van de blend en brengt typische Toscaanse tonen van kers en rode bessen, samen met levendige zuren die de wijn fris en doordrinkbaar houden.

Merlot – geselecteerde wijngaarden in Toscane
Merlot rondt het geheel af met zachtere, ronde tannines en donkerder fruit, waardoor de wijn extra soepel wordt en een fluweelzachte textuur krijgt.

Proefnotities en serveertips

In het glas toont Ambre Toscana Da Uve Leggermente Appassite Rosso een diep, intens rood met paarse reflecties. De geur is uitnodigend, met uitgesproken aroma’s van kers en zwarte kers, aangevuld met een complex bouquet van zoete specerijen en een vleugje vanille. In de smaak is de wijn vol en omhullend, met zwoel rood en zwart fruit, zachte maar gestructureerde tannines en een warme, fluwelige indruk die duidelijk maakt dat de druiven licht zijn ingedroogd. De afdronk is lang, rijk en zijdezacht, met fruit en kruiden die nog even blijven hangen. Serveer deze Toscaanse rode wijn bij 16 tot 18 °C bij geroosterd of gegrild rood vlees, langzaam gegaarde stoofschotels, wildgerechten of een plank met halfharde en zachte kazen; ook bij een goed belegde pizza of rijke pastagerechten met vlees en tomaat sluit zijn volle maar vriendelijke stijl uitstekend aan.

This was a really great read for many reasons. The focus on ensuring your project has a strategic purpose is so important these days, where Program and Project Managers need to make sure the projects they are leading are providing value to the organization. The framework is one that can be applied immediately with the explanation and tools provided in the book and on the author's website. The real-life stories and projects were not only fun to read, but very helpful in understanding how to apply the framework. The examples were very thorough and helpful. There is great information on what is needed from a PM to be successful including managing the team and stakeholders. On top of all that, when I got to Chapter 10 it was like a bonus chapter for me. Chapter 10's focus is on "managing your inner game", and has great information on ensuring you have the right mindset to be successful. Project Managers have the opportunity (and challenge) to work with many different personalities and in many challenging environments. This chapter provides really great information on how to navigate those waters and be successful. Chapter 10 could seriously be a book in itself. Chapter 12 was yet another bonus chapter, especially for lifelong learners. It's all about the idea of taking everything we've learned and applying it to our life. As the author states, our lives are essentially a project. Why not apply the same principles to ensure we are achieving our purpose and providing value, with yet again, really great examples to get us started. Anyone who leads or is involved in any kind of projects or who wants to work better in a team environment would benefit from reading this book.

The time-tested Logical Framework Approach (LFA) that Terry champions goes far beyond project management. With its exploratory LogFrame matrix leading from inputs to outcomes, outcomes to purpose, and purpose to goal, the LFA forces you to understand the reason for the project. Projects are not executed for their own reason but to achieve something specific. The LogFrame traverses the ladder from inputs to goal through objectives with success measures, ways to verify success, and assumptions that must hold true be successful. Terry adds his own concept -- that he calls the Implementation Equation™ -- to help you build the LogFrame: IF inputs AND valid assumptions, THEN outcomes / IF outcomes AND valid assumptions, THEN purpose / IF purpose AND valid assumptions, THEN goal. This methodology offers you a way to view the LogFrame with multiple perspectives: scientific method, strategic planning, project management, risk management, management by objectives, and, although he does not mention it, also quality management. In particular, his use of assumptions has helped me to redefine my view of risk management. Rather than brainstorm a large list of possible risks in a registry that becomes impossible to manage, I use the probability that the assumptions needed for success are not valid – and their impact on achieving success, as the true risks that must be actively managed. A highly entertaining as well as informative book, “Strategic Project Management Made Simple”, or whatever you choose to call it, should be the first guide you reach for when building a portfolio, creating programs or products, or starting a project.
