The Fender Custom Shop '64 J-Bass pays homage to the iconic '64 J Bass, a guitar that defined an era and set the stage for the instruments that followed. This New Old Stock (NOS) Shoreline Gold beauty is made from a pair of resonant alder pieces, and its body retains the classic curves of its vintage ancestor. The alder's tonal qualities provide a solid foundation for this instrument, making for notes that resonate with warmth and clarity.
This J-Bass sports a headstock featuring the timeless Fender logo and vintage nickel tuning machines, with a 60s head scoop and large headstock shape that add a touch of class. The neck, cut to a '60 J Bass "U" profile, is carved from the rare Birdseye AA maple, making playing this instrument a comfortable experience. The maple fingerboard with a 9.5" radius adds a touch more comfort, and wide dot spacing, coupled with 3/32" Mother of Pearl side dots, offer both visual appeal and neck-navigational aids. The bone nut, with a width of 1.5", makes sure this instrument stays stable and resonant.
Under the hood, handwound vintage J Bass pickups hand-deliver that unmistakable Fender tone.
