The Fender Made in Japan Limited International Color series takes us back in time to the early 1980’s. This reissue instruments are inspired by a short-lived US production run that was based on the MIJ Traditional series, decked out in 70’s appointments and decadent colors named after exotic locations throughout the world.
This Fender Made in Japan Limited International Color Stratocaster in Morocco Red is an exceptional example of Fender’s expert-level craftsmanship. Taking notes from the original guitar’s blueprints, this Strat features a 70’s “U” shaped neck, modern logo, 6-saddle vintage-style tremolo bridge, and vintage-style single-coil Stratocaster pickups. A 3-ply eggshell pickguard accents the finish color perfectly, and vintage “F” stamped tuners keep your strings in check while aesthetically matching the 40-year-old-guitar vibe. While this guitar looks and sounds like it came from decades ago, Fender has taken today’s guitarist in mind when it comes to playability. Breaking the vintage mold with a 9.5” radius rosewood fingerboard adds some modern-day functionality to this Strat, providing a familiar feel to the hands of those who might favor slightly flatter board. They’ve also constructed the bodies of this series from Basswood, adding some tonal variety and flare to the mix. While it’s not every day that you come across a vintage International Color guitar from Fender, now you can easily nab your very own brand new one, inspired by the originals, retro spec’d, fresh from the factory.
