Do I need additional equipment for the exams?
All answers must be written in black ballpoint pen.

What grade is normally required for further or higher education?
Most institutions require a minimum of a grade 4 at GCSE English Language, although some Universities will require a grade 6.

Is there a higher or foundation option in GCSE English?
Nope, there's no higher or foundation tier for GCSE English Language. Everyone takes the same exam, so you can aim for that top grade 9!

How do I take the speaking component of the GCSE English language?
The speaking component is conducted via Zoom. Details will be sent to you nearer to the examination date.

Can I carry forward my speaking component result if I am resitting English language?
Yes, this is possible. However, you will need to provide both the mark achieved for the speaking test (Pass, Merit or Distinction) and the UCI number that was used when you previously took the English Language exam. This information can be found on your exam statement of entry or certificate.
